Steam does a monthly GPU survey among active Steam users. They register the type of videocard used and calculate the contribution of the individual cards to the total ammount of GPU’s used. This month September 2019 it’s clear that there is an increase of 7,05% of Direct X12 cards used compared to August 2019.
If we look a the change in percentages based upon individual cards, the the Nvidia RTX 2060, GTX 1650, GTX 1660 Ti, RTX 2070 Super and AMD’s Radeon RX 590 gain the most popularity.
In absolute numbers the Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB remains the most popular videocard on steam ever. With 14,52% of all users having this card in their systems, that’s a lot and it was even more back in May 2019. So there is your answer. 🙂
Despite it’s high contribution the Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB is on it’s way down while the GTX 1050 Ti remains stable. The GTX 1060 6GB lost a few % the last four months possibly due too AMD’s RX 5700(XT) and Nvidia’s own Turing 2xxx series. If you ask yourself if this information is valid, please consider Steam has over 1 Billion active users so the sample size will be big enough to make some serious assumptions.
